Principals' Message

I'm back!!!!!!

What a wonderful three days it has been, returning to work at this amazing school. To say I have missed the whole school community is an understatement. I spent Monday visiting all the classrooms and enjoyed chatting with some parents in the morning and afternoon. Seeing some of the most amazing smiles absolutely melted my heart and confirmed the love I have for my job. I also finally got to meet our Kindergarten students for the very first time, which was very exciting. All very different to what they would have been like on their very first day of school I'm sure.

My time spent recovering has really taught me the importance of looking after yourself, valuing and prioritising time with loved ones, and taking the time to smell the roses. Your life can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye. I have been incredibly fortunate with my treatment and feel better and more energised each week. I am returning Monday-Wednesday this term and will see how I’m doing for Term 3.

I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to all the JPPS staff for doing a fabulous job in my absence. In particular, Susanne Lakeman, Kim Cutting and Jade Kelly, for going above and beyond to ensure the school was functioning very well every day, and the executive and administration teams for filling different roles and ensuring our students continued to thrive each day.

I would also like to thank the many community members for thinking of me during my time away. Your messages of support were passed on regularly, and greatly appreciated.

Best of luck to all the JPPS competitors at the Sydney West Cross Country next week. I really missed seeing all our competitors at the school and zone carnivals, where I believe we performed very well.

I look forward to hopefully catching up with many more community members over the coming weeks.

I hope you get to enjoy some time with loved ones this long weekend.

Sports News

Unfortunately, the wet weather has dampened our efforts to consistently play our PSSA game this term. Here's hoping we can get a game in next Friday!

Here is the new website for Ridges PSSA: Home - Ridges PSSA - revolutioniseSPORT

The website includes sports results and the latest Ridges news.

Bike and Scooter Safety

We have noticed that many students do not wear safety helmets, or wear them incorrectly when riding their scooter or bike to and from school. Students should ALWAYS wear a helmet.

Research shows that helmets reduce head injuries by up to 74 per cent in crashes with motor vehicles. Wearing a helmet from the moment they start learning to ride will help your child develop it as a habit and reduce the risk of head injuries. Early helmet wearers will also be more likely to continue to wear helmets throughout their life.

Your child must wear a helmet when riding a bike in a public place. It is the law. It is important that the helmet is correctly fitted and complies with the Australian and New Zealand Standards. A helmet that is not correctly fitted and fastened does not provide enough protection in a crash.
