Best of luck and congratulations to our public speakers who will either be delivering their speeches at a Community of Schools assembly this week, or already have. Our Stage One representatives delivered their speeches at an assembly at Woonona PS last week. Lily P and Isla B did a superb job representing Russell Vale Public School.  This morning, Imogen S also did a superb job delivering her speech at Woonona East Public School, representing Stage Two. On Friday afternoon, Rhys D and Benji G from Kindergarten will deliver their speeches at Russell Vale Public School when we host the other schools. Upon returning from the school holidays, our Stage 3 speakers will deliver their speeches at Woonona High School on a date yet to be confirmed. 

Parents, carers and family members are invited to attend the Book Week Parade on Thursday 24 September, 12:00 - 12:45 pm. As always, students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character and be part of the big parade.

We hope that you can join us for our Grandparents’ Day Assembly. This will take place Friday 23 October at approximately 9:15 am in the school hall. Detailed information has been emailed to families. Photos for our slideshow can be emailed to rvpsgrandparentsday@yahoo.com. We are also seeking donations of baked or bought goods that we can serve to our grandparents for morning tea. Thank you in advance for these items, they can be brought directly to the canteen on the morning of the event. 

Our second play group session will be held on Thursday of this week as part of our transition program. If you have a child beginning school in 2027 who has not been yet enrolled, please do so via our website. If you require more information, please contact the office. For any families that have been attending our RVPS Community Farm Playgroup, this is still happening for our younger students who are not starting school in 2027. 

We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs Cleall back next term following successful knee surgery. I thank Ms Williams for her dedication to looking after the farm. The Russell Vale Farm is a very unique feature that most schools do not offer. With that being said, it is a very large task to maintain this space, requiring community and parent support. I also thank the large group of community members for their ongoing support at the farm, it certainly takes a village!

Congratulations once again to Mrs Smith for her successful application for Relieving Principal at Scarborough Public School. I am currently working through an internal expression of interest (EOI) process to fill her role as Assistant Principal (0.2) and Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction (0.8). So that the community will be aware, I expect this internal expression of interest will cause a ripple effect to other classrooms as the successful candidate will then have to be replaced at the classroom level. This process will be completed by the end of the school term, however I may not have the backfill completed until students return for Term 4. 

I hope everyone has a very relaxing, yet enjoyable break. Monday 12 October is a School Development Day, meaning that students will return on Tuesday 13 October.

Please ensure that students have snacks which are readily accessible. Whenever possible, snacks should be pre-cut and prepared so students can eat them easily without assistance. This helps minimise interruptions to learning and supports student wellbeing.
