Entertainers

The Entertainers is now over and the show was incredibly successful!  A record number of tickets were sold and the matinee session that Entertainers held for Budawang School was sold out! The Entertainers have donated $1500 which will go towards library books for our library in the new school.

External Evaluation

This term our school went through External Evaluation. The process is completed every 4 years where the we self assess how the school performs against the School Excellence Framework. The school executive team worked on the submission for just over a term which culminated in a 3 hour interview. I am pleased to say that the school went extremely well in this assessment process - being upgraded to excelling in Learning Culture and Sustaining and Growing in Assessment. The overall outcome for the elements were:

Farewell to our Director of Educational Leadership

Stephen Heslop our school's Director of Educational Leadership is taking leave for the remainder of the year, before moving onto retirement. Stephen has been a great support and advocate for Budawang School and this has been most evident in his input into our new school build. I want to personally thank Stephen for his support over the past 4 years and wish him well in what lies ahead.

Stephen came for one last visit this week to say goodbye to students and staff.  Greg McDonald will be relieving in this position for the remainder of the year. Greg is currently the Director Educational Leadership for the Batemans Bay area.

NAIDIC Celebrations- For the Elders

Our NAIDOC day of celebrations will be Tuesday 27th June. Students will have the opportunity to join in a variety of First Nations activities with the assistance from Milton PS and Ulladulla High School students.

Parents are invited to join us for this day of Celebrations - 12:00-1:30pm.

Semester 1 Reports

The teachers have been working on assessing and reporting over the last few weeks. The Term 1 Semester Reports will be out at the end of the term in our new format. This format is the result of a review which took place last year, involving staff and parents feedback.

The new school is looking great - as you can see from the Arial photos below.

Red Class News

It has been a busy and rewarding term for Red class.

This term we have been reading Eric Carl’s ‘Tiny seed’.  The Red class had the opportunity to go to our school garden to weed, plant seeds and regularly water our seedlings. It was a rewarding experience for all participants.

We have had a wonderful opportunity to collect bread bags on behalf of the school.   Bread bags collected are recycled APR Plastics and are processed into an oil used to create food grade packaging. This initiative has given Red class an opportunity to count the bread bags and pack them ready for the post office. Thank you for all your support. We are close to 5kg so keep the bags rolling into the school.

For sport Red class has increasingly participated in bike riding and Bocce.    It has been a delight to see an increased interest and level of participation in both activities. For PE students have been regularly exercising on the main playground equipment. They show great agility as they climb ladders, crawl through tunnels and go down our slides.

There has been an increase in Red class Participation in Assembly on Friday. Students stand to sing the National Anthem, applaud award recipients. Red class have been calm and happy to sit and listen.

I am really excited about new adventures and experiences in Semester 2.

BREAD BAG COLLECTION!

Thank you everyone for bringing bread bags into school. Look how many we have collected!

We have counted 180 Bags

Keep up the great work.  We are still collecting for the month of June.

Positive Behaviour for Learning

Being Safe at Budawang School means we keep our hands and feet to self.

We do this to respect personal space and keeps students safe.

To practice this at home you could watch the video A Social Story: Keeping Your Hands To Yourself and Personal Space

Being safe at Budawang School means dressing safely.

We do this to protect our dignity and protect ourselves from the environment

To practice this at home you can model how to keep your clothes on, shirt on the top of your body and pants/shorts on your legs.

P&C Corner

Thank you to the committed parents and carers for supporting the P&C.  Unfortuneatly, the Bunnings BBQ has had to be cancelled.  We will reconvene at our next meeting to discuss future fundraising ideas.  If you would like to be a part of the team, please call or email.  Any help or input is appreciated.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Back to school vouchers

Just a reminder that we are still accepting back to school vouchers for uniforms and we can accept them up until the 30th June!

End Of Financial Year

It is that time of year again and as we come to the end of financial year and get ready to change over to a new finance system, we ask that parents please do not make any payments to the school after this week to help us process our EOFY in our finance systems.  We can start accepting payments at the beginning of Term 3.  As the weeks go by, we are working in the background to get the new finance system in place and are looking forward to sharing this with you next term.  Watch this space for incoming information.
