Term 3 Week 2
28th July 2025
Message from the Principal
Welcome back to a busy Term 3! We are excited to start the term, which will be full of new learning opportunities and special events. We encourage all students to take on the challenges this term brings and to support each other along the way.
As was communicated last term we have restructured classes, due to an increase in numbers. Day 1 saw us form a Year 2 class which is taught by Mrs Brown and Mrs Logue and a Year 3 class taught by Miss Beckingham. Our students embraced the change positively and it is business as usual in all classrooms.
Child Protection
This term, we will be implementing child protection lessons as part of the NSW curriculum and our commitment to keeping our students safe. These age-appropriate lessons will cover important topics, while aiming to assist students to:
- develop skills in recognising and responding to unsafe situations
- seek assistance effectively
- establish and maintain respectful and equal relationships
- strengthen attitudes and values related to equality, respect and responsibility
We encourage you to continue these conversations at home to reinforce these messages. Together, we can create a safe and supportive environment for all our children. If you require any additional information, please speak with your child’s teacher.
Education Week
We are excited to announce that Education Week is just around the corner! We invite you to join us for our open day on Wednesday 6th August. We will begin with an assembly at 9:15am in the hall, followed by open classrooms. Spend time exploring classrooms and see firsthand the wonderful work our students are doing. The canteen will be open for recess, so you can enjoy morning tea with the students.
Student Representative Council (SRC)
Semester Two Student Representative Council (SRC) members will receive their badges and be officially inducted during our Education Day assembly on Wednesday 6th August. This is an important occasion where we celebrate our students' leadership and commitment to making a positive impact in our school community.
Year 1 Phonics Screening
As part of our commitment to supporting early literacy, we will be implementing the NSW Year 1 Phonics Screener this term. This screening tool helps us assess students' phonics skills, which are essential for reading success. During the screener, students will be asked to read a series of words and pseudo-words to demonstrate their understanding of phonics. The results will guide our teaching and provide targeted support for each student. This screener is conducted 1:1 and will take place from Week 4.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
We would like to inform you about the upcoming Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). This important data collection process helps us better understand and support students with disabilities across Australia. Our Learning and Support team have been working tirelessly gathering information about the adjustments our school makes for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the support necessary for their success. The information collected is de-identified and used to inform funding and resources at both the school and national levels. If you have any questions or would like more information about the NCCD, please feel free to reach out.
Kindergarten Transition Program
We are excited to announce the start of our Kindergarten Transition Program, designed to support our youngest learners as they prepare for their first year of school. This program offers numerous benefits, including helping children become familiar with the school environment, building social skills, and easing the transition to formal education. Through engaging activities and play-based learning, children will develop confidence and make new friends, setting a positive foundation for their school journey. We invite all families with upcoming Kindergarten students to join us and experience the joy of learning together!
