Newsletter Term 4 Week 10 2024

Principal's Message

It really does feel like we started Term 4 only a couple of weeks ago. 2024 has been another fantastic year of growth at Taren Point Public School. The learning that has taken place throughout the year has been fantastic. To walk around the school and see what the students are doing now compared to the beginning of the year is extraordinary.

There have been many achievements this year. Congratulations again to our Stage 3 French Immersion students that sat the DELF Prim assessment. Your excellent results reflect your dedication to learning French. Congratulations to Yvie, Lukas and Ezekiel for being selected to represent Sydney East and NSW in their chosen sports. Congratulations to our amazing Kindergarten students for completing their first year of formal schooling. You have all made a brilliant start to your learning journey. Congratulations to Year 6. You have now completed the first or Primary stage of your learning journey. Well done, there are two quotes that really resonate at this time of year for our senior students as they embark on the next stage of their life, the first is by Dr. Suess from the book ‘Oh the places you’ll go!’

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”

The second quote is from A.A. Milne from Winnie the Pooh but spoken by Christopher Robin.

“You’re braver than you believe, Stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.”

Year 6 you are ready for high school and on behalf of the Taren Point PS community I wish you all the best.

At our recent Presentation Evening, we enjoyed celebrating our student achievements throughout the year and applaud all the worthy recipients. At the end of the evening, we were pleased to announce our new leaders for 2025. Congratulations to our Captains, Ahri and Nevaeh and our Vice Captains, Aryana and Ivy. We look forward to another fabulous year with you at the helm next year. Thank you to our outgoing leaders for the service throughout 2024. They did a remarkable job of leading the way for our students.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Imogen Grant and Amy Jamieson, who will not be returning next year. Imogen joined us at the start of 2023 as our Aboriginal Education Officer. Her impact on the whole school was huge and she will be missed. I would like to wish her all the best as she starts her Education Degree.  Amy  joined us over three years ago as our Chaplain and was the perfect fit for Taren Point. Her connection and support with students, families and staff has been impressive and inspiring. We have been so fortunate to have Mrs Jamieson as part of the Taren Point Family. We wish her all the best for the next stage of her journey.

I am assuming that you have all heard but if you haven’t, Mrs Ward gave birth to her second daughter Frankie Louise Thursday 5 December. On behalf of the entire Taren Point community, I would like to congratulate Erin and her husband, Martin, on the birth of their second child. We can’t wait to meet her.

There have been a few changes to staffing for next year and I would like to inform you how the school will be structured next year.

You should all be able to access your child’s Semester 2 Progress Report now via the School Bytes platform as they were published last Thursday. We were informed of a glitch that saw a small number of students report not published to the School Bytes Parent Portal. This has been rectified. If you are still having trouble accessing the reports, please either contact your child’s teacher or myself.

There has been a change by the Department of Education to the start date for Students for 2025. All students, including our 2025 Kindergarten students will start on Thursday 6 February.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to again thank the amazing staff of Taren Point Public School. Their professionalism, commitment and dedication to each and every student ensures that ever student is known, valued and cared for.

I would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and enjoyable summer. See you in February.
