Newsletter Term 3 Week 10 2024

Principal's Message

Wow, what a term! I am still surprised at the end of every term when I look back and see what we, as a school, have done over the last ten weeks. We have definitely packed in many fantastic learning opportunities as well as some outstanding community events over the last 10 weeks.

Here is a condensed overview of Term 3. The students and staff of Taren Point Public School have been involved in:

Public Education Week, Book Week, Science Week, French Immersion Days at Killarney Heights PS and the NSW School of Languages, Zone and Regional Athletics Carnivals, Sutherland Shire Schools Music Festival, Transition Days, Stage 2 & 3 Camps, Sydney East soccer and softball representatives, Public Speaking Competition, Goodhew Gardens Visits, Wheels Day, Pirate Day, Hockey Gala Day, Check-in assessments and many exciting learning activities.

I would like to thank all the staff of the school for the huge effort they put in to provide all the students with as many opportunities as possible.

Term 4 begins for staff and students on Monday 14 October, with the last day for students being Wednesday 18 December. I would like to take this opportunity to stress the importance of student attendance at school. 1 day missed a fortnight equates to 4 school weeks a year which would add up to missing an entire school year over their school life. We understand that there will be days your child may miss school due to illness and for the benefit of your child and the rest of their class, staying at home until they are well is important. Please try and limit any other time off school for your child’s educational benefit.

Term 4 is as busy, if not even more busy than Term 3. Please keep your eye out for notes and updates from the School Bytes App.

If you are travelling during the school holidays, I wish you a safe trip. If you are staying at home for the school holiday period, I hope Sydney turns on the weather so you can get out an enjoy the beautiful city we live in.

As always, if there is anything that you would like to discuss about school, please do not hesitate to contact me here at school or via email.

Kind regards

James Nobbs -  Principal

Colour Run

P&C are hosting the ever popular Colour Fun Run again this year on Wednesday 30 October. This is a whole school event and a major fundraiser for the year, but more importantly a FUN day for the children. Please scan the QR Code or click on the link to register your child www.schoolfunrun.com.au

Students are able to choose a prize/s according to funds raised. This year, we encourage families to consider selecting a prize that your child may like to donate to our Christmas charity collection at the end of the year. The school holidays are a great opportunity to register and get sponsors for the run. Please note that all children will participate in the event regardless of funds raised.

CNSW Cricket Blast

Cricket NSW are holding a FREE 4 week after school program at our school. If you would like your child to participate, please register your child via the QR Code on the flyer below.

Centenary

We turn 100 next year. Planning for the Centenary Celebrations are well underway. We are looking to capture all alumni, both students and staff and encourage you to share our Facebook past with the QR Code link to a Google form questionnaire. If you know someone that attended TPPS, can you please direct them to the School’s Facebook page or share the post with them. If you would like to be part of the organising committee, please contact either Shenee Wyld or Mrs McLean.
