We are currently looking at a partial handover over of the site mid October with and the remainder of the site in January - ready to start the school year.
Purple Class News
Welcome back to school for Term 3! Although we have only been back for a few days our students have settled well and are ready for the new term and to achieve some new goals.
We have started this term reading the story ‘Looking for Crabs’ and learning about all the different places people go on holidays. Our students have shared some of the things they have done and places they have been using photographs provided from their own holidays.
This term, students will deepen their understanding of numbers by developing their skills in counting objects and matching the correct number. We will be counting forwards and backwards to help develop automatic number recognition which assists when learning to add and subtract. These skills will be taught through hands on games and activities.
Students will be learning some dance moves this term, we have started with a Zumba routine to the song “I like to move it!”. So many smiles and laughs from everyone in our class. We will be learning a variety of new games and activities to play in the classroom with staff and other students. This is a great way to develop our social skills, teach turn taking, waiting and so many other skills and it is lots of fun. We have started strong with Hungry Hippo and magnetic fishing as firm favourites!
The staff in Purple Class are so excited to have our students back after a very well-deserved break and cannot wait to see how much fun we can have learning together this term.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Be Responsible -Good Choices
Being Responsible at Budawang School means we make good choices.
We do this because of the safety of students, to have fun and to help others.
To practice this at home you could model being in a difficult situation e.g.
1. Parent cannot find a favourite toy.
2. Say how parent feels, for example, frustrated angry.
3. State what good choices you can make to help yourself. For example, ask someone for help, look calmly for item, breathe to help to make a good choice.
Be Safe- Look after yourself
Being Safe at Budawang School means you look after yourself at school.
We do this to maintain personal care, ensure safe behaviours – including avoiding sun damage through wearing a hat in playground, walking calmly and awareness of others.
To practice this at home you could watch the video Look After Yourself
P&C Corner
The P&C at the end of last term donated $5,000 to the school to purchase two Protac Sensit Chairs. These are chairs used for stimulating the sensory system. The chair stimulates the body's sense of touch as well as the muscle and joint position senses and increases body awareness and promotes calmness. The school already has 3 of these chairs, 2 of which were purchased by the P&C, and now with the extra two that the P&C have funded, there will be a chair for each classroom. These have been a hit in the class rooms with the students and we are very proud to present these to the school from our fantastic fund raising efforts in semester 1.
We have our next Bunnings BBQ on Sunday 27th August, if you can help out in any way please contact us!
We are always looking for new members or just parents and community members that can help where they can. There is no job to small and we would love to have some new faces on board.
Join us for our next meeting on 14th August at 12pm. Please phone or email for more information on our meetings or how you can help the Budawang P&C
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
