Canteen Updates

I would like to welcome Megan Spence back to Russell Vale Public School as our new Canteen Manager. Megan is a former parent, having had two children graduate from Russell Vale Public School. Megan was also heavily involved at the school and with the P&C during her time at Russell Vale. The canteen will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week for both recess and lunch, something that we have not been able to offer in my time at Russell Vale. I would also like to thank Amanda Townsend for her dedication over many years in keeping our canteen running. Amanda has donated many, many hours of her time and is still continuing to do so in transitioning Megan to this new role.

After-School Sports Clinics

This term, we are offering two options for after-school sports clinics for students who are interested. Today we were supposed to have had AusKick (cancelled due to the weather) at school running sessions for each class in leading up to its after-school program that will be running Wednesday afternoons starting 15th May. Motiv8 sports will also be returning but on Thursday afternoons. Information regarding enrolling in these programs can be found on our app or on the flyers sent home with students.

Walk Safely to School Day

Walk Safely to School Day will be held on Friday 10th May 2024. This day is a great opportunity for families to walk to school together and have conversations about road safety, focussing on the key road safety messages.

Soccer Knockout

Best of luck to our Girls’ and Boys’ Soccer Knockout Teams as they endeavour to complete their matches against Coledale. The matches were supposed to be tomorrow but have been postponed due to weather. As home team, Coledale is responsible for rescheduling the games. As soon as they have been confirmed, this information will be communicated.

District Cross-Country

Unfortunately, District Cross-Country has also been postponed. The back up date for the carnival is Friday 24th May.

Maths Online

Did you know that some of the benefits of Maths Online include weekly reports emailed to you, showing your child’s progress? One of the key elements of student success in school is the relationship between the teacher and parent. This program assists in keeping you informed on a regular and consistent basis.

To keep track of your child’s progress, weekly reports are a feature which can be sent directly to your nominated email address.

How do you set up weekly reports? It is easy to do so.

  • STEP 1. Go to Mathsonline and click on the Login drop down arrow located at the top of the page, and then select Parent Login.
  • STEP 2. A new box will open. Select Sign-In Option 2, then enter your child’s username and password and clicking Sign In.
  • STEP 3. Using the Parents’ box, click on the ‘+’ symbol and add your email details.

Stewart House Donation Drive 2024

Public schools across NSW and the ACT have assisted Stewart House with fundraising for over 90 years, providing a vital income stream to fund educational programs and excursions designed to develop children's social and emotional skills, build self-esteem and improve their overall wellbeing. This experience provides children with a much-needed break from their current circumstances.  Children in the care of Stewart House attend a specific purpose school and the NSW Department of Education provides infrastructure and staffing support for this school.

Stewart House need your ongoing support to ensure the longevity of our unique residential program.

This week students will bring home a donation raffle envelope for Stewart House. Families are asked to donate $2 for a chance to win a $4 000 gift voucher.

All envelopes must be returned by 15th May.
