Also, a big thank you to Nicole Buschmann and our First Nations team for coordinating this successful cultural event for our school. The team have worked hard to build connections and partnerships with the teams at UHS, UPS and Milton PS.

On Monday the 17th July, the staff will be attending the Special Education and Leaders Association (SEPLA) Conference. Students will return to school on Tuesday 18th July.

School Reports - Parent Survey

School Reports will be sent home today with your child.  This report outlines your child's learning in each subject area as well as their Personalised Learning and Support Plan goals.  This semester we have used a different format for school reports.  We hope that this new format will be more streamlined and comprehensive.  We are asking for parent feedback in the form of a very short survey.  It should take less that 5 minutes to complete but will help us to keep reviewing and improving our reporting processes.  Please click on the link or scan the QR code below to complete the survey.

 Blue Class News

What a fantastic Term 2 we have had in Blue Class! It has been wonderful to see our students engaged in their learning activities and becoming more confident and independent.

One of the classes highlights this term has been learning to play and participating in class Boccia games.  All students joined in by either rolling or using a ramp to aim their two Boccia Balls at the target.  Students really enjoyed these games and Blue Class Staff were very proud of them all. We were also pleased that Frankie was able to represent the school as part of a team in a state inclusive sports event.  Well Done to all the students!

Blue Class have been working hard this term, trying lots of new activities, and developing our skills.  In Creative Arts we have been exploring portraits, looking at the different shapes that make up the body and face, tracing body shapes and painting our own self portrait using simple shapes.  We were so very proud of the student’s self-portraits using lines and circles to create their image!

Our exciting learning journey has continued this term, we have used the story of The Jolly Postman to answer who questions about a text; especially engaging with opening up the letters to check which character he visited. We are currently studying a new class favourite text The Tiger Who Came to Tea and have created lists of the many different foods and drinks he had.   Another highlight of the term has been studying volume, filling different containers to make them full, half full or empty.  One of our favourites was filling a jar with chocolate coins!

Thank you and Well Done to Blue Class for all your efforts this term.   We look forward to what the rest of the year brings for each of you!

Green Class News

The end of another term is here, and Green Class have had a busy Term Two.

During literacy sessions a movie study was completed which enabled students to continue to answer who, where, what, why and how questions. Being able to answer these types of questions shows comprehension and information retention skills. When discussing the movie Billionaire Boy, students examined personality traits and formed opinions about the actions of the characters. They disapproved of bullying behaviours and identified greed and deception in some of the characters.

Working with money has been the focus for numeracy sessions especially when students we're processing Budawang Bites orders. Skip counting was a focus as counting by twos, fives, tens, and twenties is helpful when processing money. We have continued to work on our measurement skills through the practice of using a ruler and a tape measure correctly. Measuring the height of each student was completed and displayed on a wall in the classroom. These heights were then placed on a graph so students could see the results recorded in another way.

In history, students have been learning about 'Australians at War'. An area of interest was learning about trench warfare and what it was like for soldiers who fought in them.

In PDHPE, students have been learning about Growth Mindset and the power of the word ‘yet.’ This means trying to think positively and instead of thinking and saying, ‘I can’t do it’ you say, ‘I can’t do it yet’.

In visual arts, students have been exposed to the work of two artists, Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso. They used these famous works for inspiration and completed their own art pieces mimicking these styles.

In science, with Cate, the students have been busy with a range of experiments but were extremely excited on the day that they made ice-cream. From all reports it was delicious.

Mandatory technology lessons have focused on digital technology and how and when it is used in everyday life. It is amazing to research how something like a typewriter has evolved into today’s computers.

Elisha and I hope everyone can get out and enjoy the beautiful area that we all live in during the school holidays. Have a wonderful winter break.

Positive Behaviour for Learning

Be Caring - Be a Good Friend

Being Caring at Budawang School means we be a good friend.

We do this to be respectful of others and develop positive relationships at school.

To practice this at home you could watch video

What makes a good friend?’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avHdx18pi_U with your child.

Be Responsible - Follow Teacher Instructions

Being Responsible at Budawang School means we listen to teachers and do what they ask of us when in school.

We do this because it reinforces expectations/rules at school.

To practice this at home you could play games with your child like ‘Simon Says’ but instead of Simon Says as the cue use your child’s name.

Office Reminders

Back to school vouchers

Just a reminder that we are still accepting back to school vouchers for uniforms and we can accept them up until the 30th June!

End Of Financial Year

It is that time of year again and as we come to the end of financial year, we ask that parents please do not make any payments to the school after this week to help us process our EOFY in our finance systems.  We can start accepting payments at the beginning of Term 3.

New Finance System on the way

As directed by the Department of Education, we have been investigating new finance systems and what we think would suit Budawang School.  We have found a winner and are excited to share a new payment platform with you next term.  Watch this space for incoming information.
