Term 4 Week 2
21st October 2024
Message from the Principal
Welcome back to Term 4! I hope your child/children and you have settled well into our final term of 2024. We have plenty planned for this term to keep our students active and engaged as we head into the warmer weather.
If you know or think that you may be moving/changing schools for next year, please either drop in or telephone the office to let us know. Similarly, if you know of any families moving into our area, please encourage them to contact the school. Our Kindergarten transition program has already begun with two playgroups last term and another one this morning. We welcome those new students and families.
The Tell Them from Me Parental Survey
This term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parental survey, another part of the Tell Them from Me group of surveys (student, teacher and parental surveys) about student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to have an impact on student well-being and engagement.
Participating in this survey will help our staff to understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their children’s experience at school. These experiences include communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home, and parental/carer views on the school's expectations for students’ learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school to make practical improvements.
The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, iPads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. Your responses are very much appreciated.

P&C Meeting
Our next P&C meeting will take place Monday 28th October, 7:00 pm at Woonona Bulli RSL. As always, new members are welcome to attend.
Deadly Awards
Congratulations to Max and Haven for their recognition last week at the NIAECG Deadly Encouragement Awards. Max was recognised for being an outstanding ambassador for Russell Vale Public School, demonstrating impressive skills in Literacy. Haven was recognised for being an active member of the school leadership team, demonstrating initiative and excelling in sport.
Year 5 Taster Day at Woonona High School
Best wishes to our Year 5s as they head to Woonona High School for an early start to their High School Transition today.
Grandparents’ Day Assembly
Our Grandparents’ Day Assembly and Open House will take place Monday 28th October at approximately 9:15 am in the school hall. Grandparents, grand friends, parents and carers are invited to attend. There will be an assembly, followed by an opportunity to view our classrooms, and a morning tea. If you have any photos of your child with their grandparent, please email them to rvpsgrandparentsday@yahoo.com so they can be added to our slideshow. We are also asking if families could please donate baked or bought goods on the day so that we can provide morning tea to our grandparents free of charge.
Fit Futures
Fit Futures returns this term to deliver their gymnastics program to our 3-6 classes. This is free- of-charge as we were once again successful in obtaining a grant from Sporting Schools Australia.
School Disco
Information has been distributed via enews regarding our School Disco that will take place Friday 8th November in the school hall. Thank you in advance to all parents who are assisting in organising the event. Tickets can be purchased at: https://events.humanitix.com/copy-of-rvps-p-and-c-school-disco
World Teachers’ Day
Transforming lives with their unwavering dedication, our teachers play a vital role in shaping young minds and creating an inclusive atmosphere for our students and communities.
Please join me this Friday, 25th October in recognising our fantastic teaching staff for World Teachers’ Day, as we take our hats off to our teachers for the work they do every day in helping learners of all ages to flourish.
Variation to the School Development Day for Teaching Staff
There will be a variation to one of the two School Development Days at the end of the term. The teaching staff has taken part in professional learning on a Saturday earlier this year in place of the School Development Day on Friday 20th December. This means that teaching staff will not be on site. This does not affect students and the office will remain open if you need to contact the school.
