Message from the Principal

Fete Update

A huge thank you in advance goes to all of the parents and community members involved in organising our upcoming 70th anniversary celebrations. A special thank you goes to Amanda Townsend and Dona D’Amico-Ward who are the driving forces behind the organisation for our Fete. It is very pleasing to not only see that our P&C meetings are generating the largest attendance we have had in many years, but also to see the large, large list of non-P&C members who have taken on key roles in the Fete. It certainly takes an entire community to organise such a large event and I am really looking forward to celebrating with the greater community. In preparation for the Fete, we have decided to move forward our next P&C meeting, which will now  take place Monday 2nd September at Woonona Bulli RSL.

As a reminder, interested stallholders are invited to contact our event organisers at russellvalefete@gmail.com. This includes interested students who would like to host a stall.

70th Anniversary Fete Fundraiser

On Thursday 15th August we will be having a mufti-day fundraiser to support our upcoming Fete. Students are encouraged to wear their pyjamas to school. Rather than the usual gold coin donation, students are asked to bring in individually wrapped lollies (i.e. Halloween type packaged) which will be used as prizes during the Fete.

Bully No Way – National Week of Action

This week we are participating in the Bullying No Way: National week of action, 12th  to 16th August 2024.

Bullying No Way Week is a commitment being made by thousands of schools and supporters across the country. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to bullying prevention. It gives us an opportunity to connect with students, staff and school communities to implement workable solutions to prevent bullying. The new hero colour for the campaign is purple – symbolising peace, strength and empowerment to take a stand against bullying behaviour.

The theme for this year's campaign is Everyone Belongs. This theme highlights the importance of creating a sense of belonging and inclusion for students. We recognise bullying often thrives in environments where individuals feel marginalised or excluded, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that every student feels valued and respected.

During the week we will be engaging students in meaningful discussions and activities aimed at promoting empathy, understanding, and respect for diversity. We encourage parents and carers to take this opportunity to have open and honest conversations with their children about the impact of bullying and what they can do if they need support. You can visit the Bullying No Way website for tips regarding how to have this discussion.

https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/

If you have concerns that your child is being bullied, please contact the school in the first instance. If you believe the behaviour constitutes a crime, or is a serious incident of cyberbullying, please refer to the Bullying No Way website for information on how to report such situations to other authorities and to access well-being help.

Thanks for your support to make our school a great school for everyone.
