Principal's Report
Harmony Day
Tomorrow we come together as a school to celebrate Harmony Day. This is a time to show that everyone is welcome at Botany Public School, no matter where they come from. It's a day to celebrate different cultures, languages, and beliefs and we celebrate it to make sure that everyone feels accepted and respected. Our Harmony Day celebration begins tomorrow morning with a special assembly. This will include a performance by our school band and recognition of some of our students who help to promote harmony and inclusivity at Botany PS. Over the day students will participate in lessons about harmony in the classrooms.
We ask that students wear something special tomorrow that represents their heritage or orange, the colour of Harmony Day. We are also asking students to bring in a small plate to share for morning tea, representing either their culture or family.
Botany Family Camp
It was wonderful to see so many of our families head off to the inaugural Botany Family Camp at Glenworth Valley recently. Luckily the sun shone for the whole weekend and students and their families had a wonderful time. Thank you to Danika Chapman for providing the idea and working with Glenworth Valley to organise the event.

Year 7 High School Expression of Interest
In NSW Government schools, moving from primary school to high school is called the 'Year 6 to Year 7 transition' or simply 'high school transition'.
If you would like your child to attend a government high school in 2025, you will need to complete an expression of interest for Year 6 to 7 transition. The expression of interest lets you indicate which school(s) you would like your child to attend in Year 7. After you submit this expression of interest and it has been assessed, your child will be offered a place at a government high school.
Please follow the link https://year7.enrol.education.nsw.gov.au/?schoolCode=1323 to complete your expression of interest (EOI). If you do not require a government school placement, please continue to the bottom of the page and 'Advise placement not required'.
The EOI is open and the last day for submission is 31 March 2024.

National Young Leaders Day
On Monday 4th of March BPS leaders travelled to Darling Harbour to attend the 2024 National Young Leaders Day. Leaders listened to several inspirational speakers, participated in learning activities and even some dancing!
Speakers included authors Mat Cosgrove and Eva Amores, athletes Stephen O’Keefe and Bryson Klein, and memory champion Anastasia Woolmer. Students learnt strategies to overcome challenges, leadership skills and methods to improve our memory. Students enjoyed meeting all the speakers and hearing about how they had got to where they are today.
BPS leaders proudly and responsibly represented our school alongside thousands of other leaders from across the region.

Save the date: Colour Explosion Fun Run
Last week all students should have received a booklet with the details of how to register for the colour run which will be held on 11th April.
Last year’s Colour Run was a huge success with all the kids, parents and volunteers having a blast. We also raised over $20,000 with a portion of this going to charities to support coral and bush regeneration throughout Australia.
Information will be going out through the class reps and P&C Facebook page with ideas on how to fundraise so stay tuned.
Book Club
With the recent support of the scholastic book club, the P&C have been able to collect $1200 in funds to purchase books for the library.
