Newsletter Term 1 Week 2 2025
Principal's Message
Welcome back to another school year. I trust that you all had a great summer and found the time to enjoy family, friends and the great outdoors. I would like to extend a big welcome to all of the new families joining the Taren Point Public School community. Our new kindergarten students looked to have had a brilliant first day yesterday - lots of new things to discover and learn, including, routines, rules and making new friendships. I am sure they will be exhausted at the end of the day.
I would like to thank the P&C for the fantastic new sports uniform that all of the 3-6 students are wearing today, also thank you to Mrs Sharn Taripo, Mrs Sarah Jordan and Mrs Natalie Fenton for opening the uniform store to ensure that all students had the new uniform to start the year. The old yellow shirt and shorts should no longer be worn. While on the uniform, the girls summer tunic has changed. This is due to supplier issues. The new tunic is similar to the old version and both new and old style can be worn. There is a good supply of both the broad brimmed hat and the baseball style cap so if you need a replacement, please contact the office or order through QuickCliq. Can I please ask that students names are written in the hat as this makes returning lost property much easier.
This year, Taren Point Public School celebrates its Centenary. There are a number of exciting events planned throughout the year for both students and community. Please keep your eye out for Centenary events and if you would like to assist with any of the events, please contact Mrs McLean in the office.

There are a couple of dates that are rapidly approaching that I would like to highlight. Meet the teacher information sessions will be held on Tuesday 18 February after school. There will also be a 'Welcome BBQ' running that afternoon/evening. Information will be sent out next week regarding this event. Our Small Schools Swimming Carnival will be held at Sans Souci Leisure centre on Friday 21 February and for our Year 3 and 5 families, the NAPLAN assessment window is from 12 – 24 March, and there will be more information sent home regarding NAPLAN in the coming weeks.
Again, welcome back, and as always, if there is anything that you would like to discuss about school, don’t hesitate to contact me at school or via email.
Have a great weekend!
