Variety Postie Bike Dash - Breakfast

On Monday 6th November we hosted breakfast to 140 people participating in the the Variety Postie Bike Dash. As you can see below it was a very large event for our school and I would like to thank all the business that donated produce and Rotary for the kind donation of their time and equipment to cook the breakfast for the participants.

The Variety Club donated through a grant submission, $3291.00 towards the purchase of sensory swings for use in the new school. We have purchased a number of different swings for use inside and outside as  you can see below.  Nowra Anglican College Community Service Program

During Week 5, Budawang was fortunate to have students in Year 10 from Nowra Anglican College (NAC) come and visit. They were at Budawang participating in a community service program, giving their time to perform any jobs, activities, tasks the staff at Budawang asked of them.

Various jobs included washing the school buses, cleaning toys, pumping up the tyres on bikes, cleaning the outdoor seating area, cleaning assembly chairs, cleaning the fish tank and weeding the very overgrown garden.  They also had the opportunity to greet some Budawang students and played a game of Beyblades.

Thank you to teacher Daniel from Nowra Anglican College for organising this opportunity for the NAC students. Positive for both Budawang and NAC students.

Yellow Class News

This term, Yellow Class have been exploring the ocean and its features through sensory play and hands on activities.

Each week in numeracy, Yellow Class have been learning how to count and use 1:1 correspondence from 1-10. They have been doing this by feeding plastic fish using playdoh. Yellow class have also been exploring the concept of day and night. We have been learning how to sort routine activities that occur during the day and during the night. Students have also engaged with sensory boxes and shadow puppets to gain a better understanding of the two concepts.

In Art, we have been using our senses to understand the features of the ocean. We have used sand, seaweed, water, shells, and plastic sea animals to create under the sea artworks. Students showed their enjoyment when painting the classroom windows blue so we could create a submarine effect. Yellow class use the ‘port holes’ on the window to look for their parents and buses when it is time to go home.

We have been learning different action songs in drama and music to explore the movement of sea animals throughout the term.

Every ocean needs a clown fish. This term we have been using the idea of the ‘Clown Fish’ to relate to our circus theme PE lessons. We have been focusing on our balancing and hand and eye coordination skills by engaging in trampoline, hola hoop and juggling skills.  Students have enjoyed integrating and interacting with Blue Class students in our weekly PE lessons.

Yellow class students have shown they are enthusiastic about our lessons, and I want to congratulate them on their achievements this term.
