Canteen Update

Unfortunately, our plan to hire a canteen manager has not worked out as well as we had hoped. I thank Megan for her time and energy over the past few weeks, however, she has had to move on from the position for personal reasons. In regard to the future direction of the canteen, we will update you as soon as we have a new plan, which may take some time to coordinate.

Public Speaking

Information has been distributed at the start of the term regarding our annual public speaking competition. Students will present their speeches in their classrooms, with representatives chosen to represent their stage. Stage winners will then be chosen and have the opportunity to travel to Woonona Primary, Woonona East Primary or Woonona High School later in the school year to deliver their speeches to members of our Community of Schools’ student bodies. Confirmations of dates will come later in the term.

Athletics Carnival

Our Athletics Carnival is fast approaching – Thursday 23rd May. This event is weather permitting and the back-up date is set for Thursday 30th May.

District Cross-Country

Best of luck to our District Cross-Country Team who will compete this Friday at the new location at Hollymount Park.

Surgery

I will be off work for a few weeks beginning Friday 31st May to undergo surgery. Pip Smith will be Relieving Principal during this time.

SRC Fundraising Event

Wednesday the 5th of June is World Environment Day, a day for global awareness and action to protect our environment for future generations. Russell Vale Public School will mark this important day with a mufti day fundraiser; for a gold coin donation, students are encouraged to wear mufti clothes in green or floral print. All money raised will be used to purchase new fruit and native trees for our school, for our students and community to enjoy (Mrs Cleall is busy making a wish list!) Our SRC will be meeting regularly to further plan and promote the event. Thank you for your continued support.
