The NSW Department of Education is implementing changes to the application and placement process for both selective high schools (SHS) and opportunity classes (OC). The application period for both OC and SHS is open now and will close on Friday 21 February 2025. This process is for: current Year 4 students applying for OC placement in Year 5 (2026), AND current Year 6 students applying for SHS placement in Year 7 (2026). Please note that late applications won’t be accepted. The 2025 test dates are from 2 to 4 May 2025. Students will need to attend one test date only. Aurora College (online classes) The department's Aurora College provides online opportunity classes for rural and remote students. Students attend their local ‘host’ NSW public school and join Aurora College’s online opportunity classes for science, technology, and mathematics. Two residential camps are held each year that include: * practical face-to-face lessons * specialist excursions * opportunities for students to meet and socialise with their classmates.
