Whooping cough, also known as Pertussis, is a bacterial infection transmitted via the coughing and sneezing of an infectious person.
Symptoms can begin with a blocked and runny nose which develops into bouts of coughing.
Monitor for symptoms of coughing, fever, tiredness or blocked/runny nose and speak to a GP before attending school, child care or work.
NSW Health recommends an adult booster vaccine every 10 years to protect from Diphtheria, Tetanus and Whooping Cough (Pertussis).
