Good afternoon, everyone
On Thursday 8 May, we are involved in Do it for Dolly Day. The actual date is 9 May but due to district cross-country, we are holding our day on 8 May.
Do it for Dolly Day raises awareness about bullying by focusing on empathy and kindness.
Students may wear blue clothing, face paint or hair spray to school on Thursday. Enclosed footwear, covered shoulders and a hat are still required.
A gold coin donation is requested, if this is affordable for your family.
Part of our day will involve the school leaders conducting an assembly that focuses on kindness. The students will be encouraged to share ways they can show kindness to people they know, but also to people they don't know or don't necessarily get along with.
Students will also be asked to name five trusted adults (three outside of school, two at school) whom they can talk to for guidance and support. You might like to talk to your child about this.
Parents / Carers play a major role. Three information sheets (and their website link) are attached.
As a school, we have a range of strategies to address bullying but also to support our students to build skills in this area for use later in life. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need assistance in this area.
We look forward to a wonderful day, full of kindness!
