Indigenous Literacy Foundation - Non-Uniform Fundraiser

Dear Parents and Carers,

This Wednesday 6th September is Indigenous Literacy Day and in addition to our special 11:30am “Busking for Change” assembly, the Student Representative Council (SRC) will raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF). This organisation works in over 400 communities around Australia to supply and publish books. https://www.indigenousliteracyfoundation.org.au/

Wednesday 6th September will be a non-uniform day and we ask everyone to bring a gold coin to donate to the ILF. All students are encouraged to wear either red, yellow and black (colours of the Aboriginal flag) or blue, green, black and white (colours of the Torres Strait Islander flag). The SRC students will collect the gold coins in the morning from the classes.

In addition students can participate in a fundraising book swap at lunchtime on this day.

If your child would like to participate, please bring one children’s book in good condition (& which you no longer want) to the SRC students in the weather shed before school on Wednesday. At lunchtime bring an additional gold coin to donate and you may select a book from the display to take home.

The SRC hopes that this event will promote sharing, reading and gratitude for books in our school community.

Kind regards,

The Student Representative Council
