Dear Parents and Carers,
We are pleased to inform you that DHSVAD will be celebrating Harmony Day next Friday 28th March!
Harmony Week is an opportunity to celebrate and recognise our school's cultural diversity, and to create awareness about racial discrimination and the importance of social inclusion.
We will be celebrating with:
A special assembly in Period 3, including a Smoking Ceremony and cultural musical and dance items by members of our school community.
An extended lunch including a range of fantastic cultural food stalls, at which students can purchase their lunch.
Other important information:
Students should bring cash to purchase food at lunchtime. EFTPOS facilities will be available, but limited.
The theme for this year's Harmony Day is 'Wearing Something That Makes You Feel You Belong.' This could include your family’s cultural attire or the colour orange, which is the official colour of Harmony Day.
Please note that students are still required to wear appropriate, sun-safe clothing and safe, enclosed footwear.
Students are also asked to bring a gold coin donation, as we are raising funds to assist the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and Midjuburi Youth Resource Centre. Please help us by reminding your child to do this!
We hope your child/children have an enjoyable afternoon celebrating the cultural diversity at our school and embracing the values of anti-racism.
