Dear parents and carers of Year 10,

USI Creation

I will be circulating through classes, assisting Year 10 with the creation of their USI. This will assist in various future tasks such as TAFE and university applications. Students should take a photo of their medicare card (or passport) and store it in their phones - I will lead them through the online process and troubleshoot any issues they have.

EVET Applications

I have had some inquiries about how and when EVET applications will happen. Rest assured I will support each interested student in completing their EOI forms in the coming weeks so that I can submit applications on their behalf. The EOI forms must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Year 10 should set their six preferences for school subjects as normal this week, as places in EVET classes cannot be guaranteed. Students will receive offers to EVET courses in Term 4.

Work Experience

Thank you to everyone who has helped secure a Term 4 work experience placement for their child, and even some for other people's children! So far, we have students going to primary schools, construction companies, arts companies, councils, surveying firms and more.

Please continue having those conversations and completing SPRs, sending them along to me at hal.leggett@det.nsw.edu.au as sections 1-4 are finished. I will then confirm the placement with all parties and update my records.

I will be delivering a lesson to each Year 10 class about how they can seek and prepare for work experience, and they will be assigned a teacher mentor as an extra support person to help with this process. 

A reminder that this year's work experience block will run from November 24 - December 5, and due to the number of teachers involved in supporting the program, Year 10 classes will not run during this time.
