Dear Parents and Carers,

The Kindergarten Dance Group are looking forward to performing at the Samuel Gilbert PS - Public Education Week 2025 Open Day tomorrow.

Students will change into their dance costumes and jazz shoes during the afternoon session. After the Kindergarten Grade Song, all Kindergarten Dance Group students will exit the hall and walk around the back of the hall with Miss Mahony to wait. Any students who are also in the K-2 Vocal Ensemble will perform their item and then come backstage again to meet Miss Mahony. After the Kindergarten Dance Group performance, students will wait with Miss Mahony near the side Library entrance where they are to be picked up by their parents or carers.

Students will wear their costume home after the performance and return it to school the next day in the labelled ziplock bag. Please ensure that your child changes out of their costume immediately upon returning home so that their costume can stay clean for future performances this year. If you are staying for other performances and classroom visits, please bring some clothes for your child to either change into or put over their costumes. Please also bring another pair of shoes.

Please note:

• Girls need to wear their hair in a high ponytail (on top of their head) with a hair elastic the same/similar colour as their hair. The flower hair clips will be put into their hair by teachers in the afternoon.
• If your child is more comfortable wearing socks with their jazz shoes, please ensure the socks are white or black ankle/crew cut socks. Girls do not need to wear tights under their leotards. A brand new pair of Jazz socks in a packet was found amongst the costumes after the Grandparents’ Day performance – if these are yours, please let Miss Mahony know.
