This October, Sydney will host the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025) – one of the world’s biggest science and space events. As part of the celebrations, the NSW Department of Education will showcase Young Space Explorers on Friday 3 October 2025 at the International Convention Centre Sydney - a headline activation for IAC 2025 Space Day and Space Week.
This free event is the perfect school holiday outing for students and their families, with hands-on science, space, and technology experiences including: - Astronaut encounters – meet and hear from real astronauts, including Australia’s own Katherine Bennell-Pegg
- VR Space Cadets training – step into the role of an astronaut on a virtual spacewalk
- Mars rover challenges – drive rovers across giant maps of the Moon and Mars
- LEGO® Space Design Lab – build space-inspired designs
- Live science shows with interactive experiments and demonstrations
- Mission Patch Competition display – showcasing the creativity of students across NSW
