(This message has been attached as a flyer for those of you who might want to print and save the topics.)

Dear Parents and Carers,

Continuing in Term 4, all Kindergarten students will be asked to prepare and present a short (1 to 2 minute) talk on a variety of topics. This is to build vocabulary, confidence and practice oral language skills.

Oral language refers to speaking and listening. Speaking is the process of presenting meaning through the construction of spoken words. It involves appropriately enunciating speech sounds, using tone, pitch, stress and pace effectively. Listening is the process of attending to and constructing meaning from spoken texts. It involves being sensitive to tone, pitch, stress and pace.

Things you might like to practice at home when preparing for a topic talk include voice volume, clarity, body posture and appropriate eye contact. Students are not required to use palm-cards but will need to refer to props as part of their talks. All students should bring in their prop or tool on the dates below and be prepared to present their talk at any point throughout the week.
