As we continue to support our students' learning and wellbeing, we would like to remind you of the appropriate use of devices within our school environment. It is essential that we work together to ensure a safe and focused atmosphere for all students.
1. Use of Mobile Phones Policy: According to the NSW Department of Education's 'Use of Mobile Phones Policy', mobile phones must not be used during school hours to ensure that students can fully engage in their learning without distractions. This policy is designed to promote a positive educational environment and minimise disruptions. All students are required to turn off their phones upon arriving at school. For further details, please refer to the full policy here.
2. Use of Digital Devices: We understand that families may wish for students to carry a mobile device for before or after school purposes. If your child has a mobile device, please ensure they complete the 'Use of Digital Devices Agreement' attached and return it to the front office. Remember, mobile devices should be switched off once students arrive on school grounds. Mobile device usage is restricted during class time, at lunch and at recess. For any urgent messages, please contact the school office directly.
For students wearing SMART watches, please note they should be disconnected from Wi-Fi during the school day and are not allowed to communicate with parents.
3. Parental Controls: We encourage you to take advantage of parental controls available on your child’s iPhone or iPad. By using Screen Time, you can manage content, apps, and settings, and restrict explicit content, purchases, and downloads. For guidance on setting this up, please visit Apple's support page.
4. Behaviour Code for Students: Our school's expectations align with the 'Behaviour Code for Students', which emphasises values such as respect, responsibility, and safety. This code extends to the use of devices, as responsible use of technology is crucial in fostering a respectful environment. Students are expected to use devices appropriately, ensuring they do not disrupt others or engage in inappropriate behaviour online. We encourage you to review the code with your child to reinforce these important values. You can find the code attached and also available at the link here.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a conducive learning environment. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Kind regards,
Serena Wright,
Assistant Principal.
