Dear Parents and Carers of Students in Years 3-6,

I would like to inform you that there will be some changes to Ridges PSSA (Primary School Sports Association) competitions this year due to rising bus costs and limited availability of Friday mornings in Term 1.

 What will remain the same?

    • The Summer and Winter PSSA sports will still be available to our students to compete in on a Friday morning.

    • Students will have the chance to trial for their preferred sport, and teams will be selected as per our PSSA Procedures (found on our website).

    • Before representing our school in PSSA competitions, students must sign and submit a player's code of conduct agreement.

    • Permission and payment must be completed before the first round of competition.

    • Training sessions will occur on a Friday morning before school.

    • Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals will take place as usual.

 What has changed?

    • Unfortunately, there will be no PSSA in Term 1 due to the limited availability of Friday mornings that suit all schools in Ridges.

    • Trials for Winter and Summer PSSA teams will occur in Term 1.

    • Winter PSSA will commence in Week 1 of Term 2 and run until Week 4 in Term 3.

    • Summer PSSA will commence in Week 6 of Term 3 and run until Week 6 in Term 4.

    • Costs PSSA participation will need to increase to cover the escalating bus costs.

This is the best way we can move forward to ensure that PSSA still happens in Ridges Zone.  Many school zones no longer run Friday PSSA competitions as the buses are very difficult to book and the costs are exorbitant.  We hope to be able to continue with our successful PSSA competitions in Ridges Zone.
