Dear Parents and Carers

The department has carefully reviewed all feedback received from the Blacktown community during consultation regarding local co-educational high school options.

It has been determined that Blacktown Boys High School and Blacktown Girls High School will remain as separate single-sex schools, in line with the community preference expressed through the consultation process.

In response to feedback gathered during the consultation process, the department will also explore co-educational academic, sporting and extracurricular opportunities for students at Blacktown Boys and Blacktown Girls high schools and will work closely with both schools to identify and implement initiatives.

Adjustments will also be made to surrounding high school intake areas to provide all students in the Blacktown area with guaranteed access to a co-educational high school.

Intake area changes

  • The final intake areas for each school will be made available via School Finder in Term 1 2025 and will be applied for any new enrolment application for 2026.
  • Families of current Year 6 students will be informed of the new intake areas by early March 2025, prior to the commencement of the Year 7 Expression of Interest enrolment process.

More information is available on the department’s website.

Thank you to all students, parents, carers, staff and community members who took part in the consultation process, which ran from 28 October to 6 December 2024.

Your feedback has been valuable in ensuring we continue to provide the most suitable schooling arrangements for students in the Blacktown area.

Mrs. M. Peel
