CHILDREN IN THE WORKPLACE

With the School Holidays upon us, all stakeholders are reminded that children who attend the Markets site must be supervised at all times.

School Holiday Dates: 14^th April 2025 to 24^th April 2025

The inability to provide proper and safe supervision at all times does not comply with the prescribed “Duty of Care” principles as set out under the Work Health & Safety Regulation 2011.

PLEASE NOTE:

• Work areas should be “off limits” to unsupervised children.
• It is a fact that an operator simply cannot operate a forklift properly and watch for children at the same time.
• The most important safety rule where a forklift is being operated is “NO PASSENGERS – EVER”.
• When operating forklifts, especially when reversing, you should always know where the children are.

Please be aware that parents/carers are responsible for the care and supervision of children brought into the Markets site.
