CHILDREN IN THE WORKPLACE

With the Winter School Holidays upon us, we’d like to remind everyone that if children are on-site during operating hours, they must always be supervised. Let’s work together to keep our Market safe for everyone.

School Holiday Dates: 7^th July 2025 to 18^th July 2025

The inability to provide proper and safe supervision at all times does not comply with the prescribed “Duty of Care” principles as set out under the Work Health & Safety Regulation 2011.

PLEASE NOTE:

At Sydney Markets, safety is everyone’s responsibility and that includes looking out for our youngest visitors during the Winter School Holidays. 

• We must keep work areas strictly “off limits” to unsupervised children.
• As operators, we can’t safely use forklifts and watch for children at the same time, so it’s critical they’re always supervised.
• One of our most important rules: NO PASSENGERS ON FORKLIFTS – EVER.
• Before moving a forklift, especially when reversing, we must always be aware of where children are. If unsure, don’t operate the forklift until you can confirm their location.

Remember, parents and carers are responsible for supervising any children brought onto the Market site. Let’s stay alert, safe, and support each other in protecting everyone on-site.
