Federal Election – Saturday 21 May

· The school at Wentworth Park is a polling booth for the upcoming Federal Election on Saturday 21 May. Voting opens from 8am – 6pm with queues typically forming early.

· We would like to have an election sausage sizzle and cake stall to raise funds for the school from the general public. The ability to do this depends on us having parent volunteers to come to school to help with the BBQ, and to donate baked treats – cakes, cupcakes, slices, brownies, cookies etc that can be sold in our cake stall.

· Can you spare 1 or 2 hours on the BBQ or at the cake stall ?

· Can you bake or donate something that we can sell ?

· We need parent volunteers to help the P&C do this. We can’t do this on our own. At this point in time we have only 2 parents helping with the BBQ and no one has come forward to help with our cake stall or donate any baked items.

· The intention is to run the BBQ from 8 am – 2 pm and the cake stall from 8 am until everything is sold or 2 pm too. We will need volunteers to set up from 7 am and to start the BBQ, coffee stand and cake stall as early as possible, and to clean up from 2-3 pm as well.

· There is a spreadsheet on google drive with a roster and donation list. If you are able to help, can you :

o Please enter your name and contact number in the time slots that you available. Ideally, we would have a minimum of 4 parents for the BBQ and 3 parents for the cake stall each hour.

o Please list any baked items you can donate. You can donate baked items without having to volunteer at the cake stall or help with the BBQ.

· You can if you prefer just contact anyone on the P&C Executive.

Colour Fun Run

· FSPS’s first ever colour fun run was held on Thursday 28 April.

· Although the grounds were wet, we had a break in the weather for most of the event, with the final Kindy runs held in light rain.

· Nonetheless the students were delighted to finally be able to have the event.

· Many thanks go to the following volunteers for helping set up the obstacle course, doing all the prep work, setting up the obstacle course, and getting the materials ready.

o Joel Savage (Indiana), Eric Lai (Rachel), Dina (Dan),Tatiana (Igor), Claudia (Caitlin), Juha (Eino), Suzy (Isabella), Romi (Esther, Chloe, Elizabeth) and Doris (Jack & James).

o Big shout out to Eric Lindberg (Scout) for his handyman skills in creating some of the obstacles

o And to the many parents that showed up on the day, helped with spraying the students and making it a colourful event.

o Thanks to Melanie (Massimo) and our canteen staff (Nalika & Aki) for putting on the colour run sausage sizzle.

· Here are some of the student’s reflections on the event

· On the 28th of April 2022, stage 1 walked out of the school after lunch to Wentworth Park. It was finally the day for the colour fun run to raise funds for the school. First, we lined up to do the obstacle course with no powder thrown on us. Then, Lavender did another run with colourful dust thrown at us. My left arm got covered in more powder than my t-shirt. Finally, the colour war began the whole stage sprayed coloured powder on each other. It felt exhilarating. What a fun day for FSPS! …. By Elsie H, Lavender

· Robin, 2P and Leslie from Magenta have also celebrated the fun run with some amazing art.

There are some photos of the event at the end of the newsletter. Look out for more photos on the FSPS home page. Thanks to Doris for being our roving photographer.

Happy Mother’s Day

· I hope all the mums, grandmas and carers were spoilt on Mother’s Day and enjoyed your gifts.

· A very big thank you to Dina and Jesslyn for curating and organising our stall this year. The students were thrilled to come to the stall and select their presents.

· Thank you to our volunteers for assisting the students purchase their Mother’s Day gifts – Doris (Jack & James), Anna (Arten), Jesslyn (Lyndzey & Lindton), Romi (Esther, Chloe, Elizabeth) and Trisan (Joseph).

FSPS Redevelopment

· Recent rains have delayed progress on the school redevelopment on Observatory Hill but it is expected that the next phase involving major structural work will commence very shortly.

· The project is scheduled for completion in mid - 2023.
