School Athletics Carnival for all students (K-6) - Thursday 11 August at Hensley Athletic Field, Pagewood

  • Students aged 8 and above will compete in age-based track and field events (running, short put and long jump). Younger students will take part in sports games and fun novelty events.
  • The carnival is a fun day and parent volunteers are needed to help on the day. Please contact the school office or P&C if you are able to help.

Colour Fun Ru2 – Thurs 15 Sep

  • We will kick off our major 2022 fundraising event on Wednesday 10 August with the actual Colour Run scheduled for Thursday 15 September.
  • This year, we have switched the organising company that organises these events for schools (there are two companies).  Both these providers are very similar in that they provide an online fundraising platform, supply all the materials required to hold the event – coloured powder, sunglasses, marketing materials etc. Both companies provide prize incentives to students to fund raise ie. students choose a prize based on how much they raise. These prizes are paid from the funds that are raised. Both companies also charge an administration fee for organising the event.
  • We have set a fundraising target of $30,000 gross for this year. The funds raised will be used to ensure that we get the playground equipment that we want at the new school next year. The Department of Education provides standard play equipment as part of the redevelopment. However, we would like to raise funds to allow us to provide better equipment that takes into account the unique school site.
  • To date in 2022, the P&C has supported the school with these initiatives :

o   Provided 11 iPads to all classroom teachers. Cost $8,200.

o   Purchased 12 HEPA air filters and 16 Carbon Dioxide monitors to ensure that classrooms are properly ventilated to provide a COVID safer environment. Cost $9,300.

o   Purchased musical instruments (marimbas) and commissioned a violin storage rack. Cost $3,400.

o   Contributed towards the cost of a Student Learning Support Officer equivalent to 1.5 days a fortnight. Cost $15,000.

  • We will supercharge the “fun” in our Colour Fun Run 2, with a range of incentives. The teachers and staff are wholeheartedly supporting this fun run and will provide some memorable events on the day. It promises to be the most spectacular event and bring the FUN back to school for our students, after a horrendous 2.5 years of COVID.
  • Keep an eye out for the information sheet for details and fundraising booklet that will be given to students next Wednesday 10 August.

Book Week Parade – Thursday, 1 September

  • The Book Week Parade will be held on Thursday 1 September, with students coming dressed as their favourite book character. Time to get creative!
  • The P&C will hold a Book Fair on the day. You will be able to purchase a book for yourself or to donate to the library. All donations to the library will be acknowledged on the inside cover and your child will be the first to borrow the book.

Father’s Day Breakfast – Friday 2 September

  • Father’s Day Breakfast at school is tentatively planned for Friday 2 September and is dependent on having volunteers. Please let the P&C Exec know if you are able to help.

Canteen News

  • Canteen will operate with a limited menu in Weeks 6 & 7 (22 Aug – 2 Sep) as our canteen manager, Nalika will be away. Thank you for your understanding.
  • If you have pre-ordered lunch for your child and they are away on the day, to ensure that you are not charged for the meal:

o   Please cancel the order on MunchMonitor before 9 am on the day.

o   If after 9am, please contact the school and ask them to let the canteen know that your child is away and that they have a lunch order. If there is time, we will manually cancel the order.

  • If you do not inform us in time that your child is away and we have prepared the meal, then you will be charged for the meal.
  • If you have ordered recess for your child, please tell them to collect from the canteen at recess. Recess orders are left in an esky for collection as the canteen is not staffed.
