Kindergarten History Unit - Identity Boxes

Dear Kindergarten Parent and Carers,

As part of the Kindergarten History Unit, we are investigating personal history and the ways we can share stories. We will be holding a Kindergarten Museum to showcase what we have learned this term. Students are to create an ‘Identity Box’, which will contain items that represent the student and their family’s history. Students will then explain each of the items and its significance to their family. Examples may include items that belong to anyone in your family such as old and/or new photos, toys, medals, school reports or letters. Students can use a box of any kind, such as a shoe box, which they can decorate and fill. The identity boxes can be brought to their classroom from Monday the 4th of September onwards. There are examples below or please use the internet to assist.

‘Identity Boxes’ will be displayed on Monday 9th of September in the Kindergarten classrooms. Students will have the opportunity to explain their ‘Identity Box’ to their school peers and then their parents. Parents and carers are invited to come to the Kindergarten classrooms to be part of our Kindergarten Museum at 3pm on the 9th of September. The ‘identity boxes’ will then be sent home that afternoon.

Kind Regards,

Miss Larkin and Mrs Harris
